The excellent reviews keep coming

The Nelo 560 Surfski just got two thumbs up in a comprehensive test and review by Garth Spencer, elite surfski athlete and current race organiser of King and Queen of the Harbour (Auckland).

After blasting around the flat water time-trial course as fast as my little heart and skinny arms would permit, I would be told:

"Jeez, Spencer - that's the fastest I think I've seen you paddle, ever."

So there you have it. Boat review completed haha.

Fortunately, the review goes on and Garth concludes:

Anyone considering an elite ocean ski would be most suitable for the 560.  The stability is very similar to the alternatives but it has possibly a lot more to offer. The shorter length and more responsive acceleration makes paddling more dynamic and feels more fun.

My first impression consistent across all the Nelo boats was the “Needle Nose” feeling while looking forward over the bow. It is  narrow and well rounded providing a great catch. The seat position feels higher than most surfskis  providing a definite K1 Sprint Kayak feel.   This of course is no surprise owing to Nelo’s strong heritage as the undisputed king of the K1. Most would agree that the ergonomics of a K1 are the most optimal, but to get manageable stability for the ocean we have to compromise.  Nelo seems to have found a sweet spot where the boats still feel a lot like K1s while still having solid stability.
